Here’s some great information that I wanted to share with you from my book on Energy-
The Healing and Spiritual Energy of Essential Oils
Chapter 5 – Wake Up! The Universe is Speaking to You
I can still recall walking into the dimly lit room for a massage and becoming acutely aware of a pleasant, almost calming odor in the air. It smelled so foreign to me: What was this fragrance? The aroma made me feel happy and relaxed all at the same time. There were several small machines throughout the spa, shooting a beautiful-smelling mist up and out into the air. You just couldn’t quite put your finger on what it was, but you knew the aroma was rich and uplifting. I have come to know these scents as eucalyptus, lavender, frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood, and many more. The health benefits of applying and inhaling these precious oils are priceless for our health and well-being. Aromatherapy has become more popular today than ever, as science has found that pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils have enormous benefits to our health. As I began to
learn about the essential oils, I realized there is a huge community of people who are just as fascinated by their healing properties as I am. People in the United States, as well as across the globe, are getting back to basics and using the oils to heal themselves. These oils are not just used as aromatherapy, they are also used topically when diluted. I began researching and working with these healing oils and came to realize that they dated back to biblical times. The oils are mentioned more than two hundred times in the New and Old Testaments of the Bible. There are actually twelve essential oils mentioned in the Bible: calamus, cinnamon, frankincense, juniper, cassia, cypress, galbanum, myrrh, cedar wood, fir, hyssop, and myrtle. As children many of us are taught the Bible story of the three wise men. They brought the baby Jesus the gifts of frankincense and myrrh, as these oils were very precious in those times. The baby Jesus was anointed with spikenard, a spiritual oil used for relaxing, centering, and grounding the body. It is used for conditions of the heart and the nervous system today. I did not realize how precious these oils were. They were more expensive than gold in biblical times because the people knew that they held healing properties within them. Essential oils were used in ancient times for anointing and cleansing, in medicines and ointments, and for aromatic healing, and each oil holds a special energy within it to cure our ailments. This is what the oils were intended for. After researching the compounds of the oils and what they were used for, I learned that the oils penetrate our skin rather quickly. As I studied further, I was reminded that in the HeaLing and spirituaL energy of essentiaL oiLs
biblical times, the oils were applied to people’s feet. I discovered this was done because the pores of the feet are large and can absorb the oils more easily and quickly. Once absorbed into the body, the oils can last up to a week. Now that’s amazing healing power! Oils each have their own unique frequency, and each part of the body has a frequency as well. Research has shown that the frequency of an oil causes it to be attracted to the like frequency within the body. The quickest way to absorb the oils is through the inhalation of the mist. The second quickest way is through the feet, then the ears. One of the most important oils to keep on hand is called “thieves’ oil.” This story explains the reason why. During the Black Death plague of the sixteenth century, a band of thieves was apprehended and brought before the king. The king forced them to explain how they were able to steal money and jewelry from the deceased victims and not contract the highly contagious disease themselves. The king, of course, wanted to protect his family and his kingdom from getting the plague as well. The thieves confessed that they came from a family of apothecaries. With their knowledge of healing remedies passed down through generations, they were able to combine specific oils extracted from plants. With the right combination of oils, they could protect themselves from the plague. This historic occurrence shows the power within the essential oils and the healing power they provide for us as God intended. The recipe for thieves’ oil can still be found in the Royal English Archives to this day. The recipe includes clove,
lemon, cinnamon, rosemary, and eucalyptus. This combination of oils in the Thieves® proprietary blend was tested at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. The findings show a 99.96 percent effective rate against airborne bacteria.14 We are fortunate that thieves’ oil is sold today by many vendors across the country. We use thieves’ oil in our household for cleaning and disinfecting. Essential oil companies have created cleaning solutions, dish soap, dishwasher soap, and hand soap using the thieves’ oil blend. All of the essential oils are unique, but frankincense has become one of my favorite essential oils for its favorable aroma and its wealth of healing properties. During biblical times this oil was more highly valued than gold. My research has led me to purchase 100 percent pure frankincense oil from the Boswellia sacra tree. I have not been disappointed. Frankincense is tapped from these trees by stripping the bark and extracting the resin to be used in various ways. The oil comes from the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa, principally Oman, Yemen, and Somalia. Frankincense, known for its healing powers since the time of Christ, helps with allergies, insect bites, bronchitis, cancer, respiratory infections, diphtheria, headaches, hemorrhaging, herpes, high blood pressure, inflammation, stress, tonsillitis, typhoid, and warts. Many people use frankincense oil in aromatherapy to clear their house or office of unwanted energies. Frankincense has been used for centuries as a folk medicine because of its anti-inflammatory properties. This precious oil is used today as incense, in perfume, for treating asthma, gastroenteritis, skin conditions, and more. It is the Healing and spirituaL energy of essentiaL oils.
They are also used for emotional balance and improving the immune system, the nervous system, and the skin and nails. Frankincense has a composition of 8 percent sesquiterpenes and 78 percent monoterpenes. The compound has been effective in treating Alzheimer’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis. It is proven to be mood elevating and oxygenating and is said to deprogram miswritten or messed-up DNA code, which I find fascinating. The Lord gave us all of these natural tools to heal ourselves. I believe it’s time we get back to the basics and use the oils as they were intended. Recent research shows that a chemical compound in the resin of frankincense demonstrates the ability to fight cancer in late-stage ovarian cancer cells. In 2013, Leicester University researchers announced findings that AKBA (acetyl-11keto-beta-boswellic acid), a chemical compound in the resin, has cancer-killing properties and has the potential to destroy ovarian cancer cells.15 A few years ago the BBC reported from Salalah, Oman, where immunologist Dr. Mahmoud Suhail was working on the cancer-fighting properties of the ancient resin. He said:
[Some types of c]ancer start when the DNA code within the cell’s nucleus becomes corrupted. It seems frankincense has a re-set function. It can tell the cell what the right DNA code should be. Frankincense separates the ‘brain’ of the cancerous cell—the nucleus—from the ‘body’—the cytoplasm, and closes down the nucleus to stop it reproducing corrupted DNA codes.16
Now that is amazing! No wonder the three wise men brought this precious oil with its many healing properties as a gift to the Messiah. When God created us, He created many trees and plants to heal us. My essential oil research led me back to the early beginnings. The first recipe for anointing oil is found in the book of Exodus.
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Take the following fine spices: 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of fragrant calamus, 500 shekels of cassia—all according to the sanctuary shekel—and a hin of olive oil. Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be a sacred anointing oil. Then use it anoint the tent of meeting, the ark of the covenant law, the table and all its articles, the lamp stand and its accessories, the altar of incense, the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the basin with its stand. You shall consecrate them so they will be most holy, and whatever touches them will be holy.” —Exodus 30:22–29
It’s intriguing to realize that we have had these natural healing oils since the very beginning of time. (As a side note: 500 shekels equals approximately 12½ pounds; a hin equals approximately 1 gallon.) I was very excited to mix these oils together—until I continued reading further:
